It can be quite daunting to decide to join the military. You have quite a number of choices to make in terms of which military jobs do and don?t suit you. The military is made up of the Army, the Air National Guard, the Navy, the National Guard, the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard. This shows how important it is to first think of which branch of the military you want to join, before you look at the actual Military Jobs that are on offer. One of the most well-known branches of the military is the Marine Corps, which we will look at in some greater detail. Popular culture has played a big role in making the Marine Corps so well-known. After all, most army movies show soldiers who are in the Marine Corps. However, Hollywood is not quite like real life, so do learn about what it really is before you enlist.
So, what is the Marine Corps really like? The first thing you need to know is that, unlike the National Guard, you will be a full time soldier. Secondly, the Marine Corps has always classed itself as the ?real men of the US Army. Each marine has to be brave and strong and marines are known to have courage like no other. Marines operate all over the world and there is no telling where they will be sent to next.
The role of a Marine is to respond as soon as possible to any threat across the globe. They work together with other branches of the Military. Marines work on land, on air and on water and they will go wherever they are told to go. To demonstrate the importance of the Corps, marines are the only branch of the military that can get deployed on orders of the President, without needing to go through congress. Because of this, it can take less than 24 hours to deploy marines and this is why they are part of the rapid response force. In general, marines are first to leave and last to go in any type of disturbance. Marines have a huge reputation to uphold as being the best of the best, and they have to work very hard to keep this reputation intact. Trained as naval infantry, they are particularly skilled with amphibious operations. Opportunities for training and development exist in the Marine Corps, but only for those who show the right level of dedication, hard work and commitment to the core values of the Corps. The core values of the Corps are honor, courage and commitment. If you want to be a marine, you have to be able to identify fully with these values.
