MELBOURNE, Australia - Wallabies coaching co-ordinator Tony McGahan has signed a two-year contract to coach the Melbourne Rebels, replacing Damien Hill and continuing the cleanout at the Super Rugby club.
Hill follows test flyhalf James O'Connor, Wallaby halfback Nick Phipps and former Welsh international Gareth Delve among other players exiting the Rebels.
The decision on O'Connor was announced on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the British and Irish Lions beat Australia 41-16 to clinch the three-test series.
McGahan was successful at Irish side Munster, winning Europe's Heineken Cup in 2006 and 2008 and he also coached them to a win over the touring Wallabies in 2010.
The Rebels, with only four wins, play the Highlanders on Friday in Melbourne to close out their season.
