Justin Dentmon capped off his MVP season last year by dropping 30 points in the NBA D-League finals to help the Austin Toros win their first ever D-League championship. It was the proverbial icing on the cake for Dentmon, who finished the year with averages of 22.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. Just three days after achieving one of the best all-time seasons in the NBA D-League, the basketball obsessed Dentmon, boarded a plane for Milan, Italy where he helped Olympia Milano for their playoff run. Dentmon is clearly dedicated to his craft, and his commitment to getting better as a player may just land him in the running for another D-League MVP, or better yet, a Call-Up to the NBA. Historically speaking, Dentmon has his work cut out for him, as the last four D-League MVP's had decreased averages in their following season after winning the award (note: 2009-2010 MVP Mike Harris , did not return to the D-League after his MVP season). Thus far, Dentmon is doing his best to reverse this trend, he is averaging 20.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists heading into tonight's game, and is on his way back to his MVP-style of play. Dentmon had his best game of the season Friday night, scoring 28 points, and making 6-of-11 three pointers. It was Dentmon's best shooting performance of the year, and something the former University of Washington Husky needs to continue if he wants another shot in the NBA.
