President Barack Obama's numbers are looking healthy in a potential match-up against either former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, according to a new tracking poll from Rasmussen Reports.
In addition, both Gallup and Rasmussen show the president's approval numbers slightly improving as of Tuesday.
Following are some of the latest polling numbers for the 2012 race, including presidential approval ratings.
* The president holds modest leads in hypothetical races against both front-runners for the GOP nomination, with numbers outside the plus or minus 3 percent margin of error.
* Obama leads Romney 49 to 42 percent in a potential match-up. If he were to face Santorum, the numbers would be similar, 49 to 41 percent.
* Among unaffiliated votes, Obama is up 10 points and 16 points against Romney and Santorum respectively.
* His latest approval index according to Rasmussen is -11, with 28 percent of voters strongly approving of his performance and 39 percent strongly disapproving. His total approval is 51 percent to a total disapproval of 47 percent.
* The -11 index matches numbers shown on February 8 and 9. There was a stronger dip on February 11 through 13, with an index rating of -13.
* Gallup's presidential job approval center shows an approval rating of 46 percent and disapproval of 47 percent, up and down one percentage point respectively for the day.
* His weekly rating for February 6 through 12 were 47 percent for both approve and disapprove.
* Demographics show he's received a 10 percent boost in ratings among 18 to 29 year-olds over the prior week. His numbers declined a percentage point for all other demographic ages.
* Among females, he's gained 3 percentage points, up to 51 percent. His rating with males is at 43 percent, down a point from last week.
* Regionally, he does best in the East with 55 percent approval. He's almost breaking the halfway mark with two other region, showing 49 percent for the West and 47 percent for the Midwest, but he's down around 41 percent in the South.
