Ellen DeGeneres' five new commercials for J.C. Penney will debut during Sunday's Academy Awards.
The premieres come two weeks after conservative group One Million Moms protested DeGeneres' new gig as a J.C. Penney spokeswoman and called for the department store chain to fire her for jumping on the "pro-gay bandwagon." J.C. Penney stood by DeGeneres ? and the comedian even found an unlikely ally in Bill O'Reilly.
Bill O'Reilly becomes a supporter for... Ellen DeGeneres?
"I don't think that's the spirit of America," O'Reilly said on The O'Reilly Factor two weeks ago. "What is the difference between the McCarthy-era communitst blacklist of the '50s and the Million Moms saying, 'Hey, J.C. Penney and all you other stores, don't you hire any gay people. Don't you dare.' What's the difference?... A conservative group in the country is asking a private company to fire an American citizen based on her lifestyle. I don't think that's correct."
