A 15-year-old running track at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center in Crystal Lake has been replaced with one that features a special recycled rubber shock pad for resiliency and meets LEED Certification requirements for use of recycled products.
?We chose this flooring system for its durability, proven longevity, easy maintenance and seamless appearance,? said Jack Gabrielsen, building manager. ?We were told the shock pad under the three coats of urethane holds up for decades so when the upper painted coating starts to show wear in 10 to 12 years, the track can be re-surfaced without ripping up the whole track like we just did.?
The $35,000 track took 12 days to install and another five days to cure before members could use it. Members were encouraged to avoid walking on the track and use a temporary bridge during installation to access the fitness floor.
?This Pulastic running track is suitable for all levels of sport and recreation,? Gabrielsen said. ?Our members should enjoy all its many benefits.?
Other features of the new track include:
- Safety: Shock absorption, seamless uniformity and optimum friction; as well as free of mercury, lead and other heavy metals; is certified under stringent ISO-14001 environmental quality standards.
- Durability: Renewable wear surface that can be professionally refurbished to last the life of the building.
- Design: Color stability, permanent bonding and virtually invisible repairs.
